Happy Thursday!
This afternoon's post features a cute Whiff of Joy stamp. I also received this stamp from Phebe, The Town Scrapper. Matthew comes with the sentiment seen on the card, "Thinking of You!". I've been wanting to try to give some of my stamped images a darker skin tone, but wasn't sure of an appropriate color. I decided to try "warm sepia" Peerless Watercolours on Matthew and I think it wasn't a bad choice. I will continue to experiment with other shades.
Card Details:
  • stamp-Whiff of Joy's Lying Matthew with Sentiment

Matthew was inked-up with StazOn Jet Black and coloured using Nicholson's Peerless Transparent Water Colors. I added a little shimmer to his wings with Diamond Stickles. The sentiment was stamped in VersaFine Onyx Black.

  • patterned dp-unknown
  • cardstock-Turquoise(Bazzill Basics Paper, Crisscross, Light pkg), cream(Core'dinations ColorCore, The Chocolate Box collection)
  • ribbon-Offray Grosgrain Black
  • eyelets-We R Memory Keepers

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Ian was stamped using, you guessed it, StazOn Jet Black. He was coloured using Nicholson's Peerless Transparent Water Color Sheets. I added some shine to his gold locks, star on his shirt and skateboard with Judykins Diamond Glaze. The sentiment was inked-up with VersaFina Onyx Black.

Hello,

Tonight's post features C.C. Designs' Sugar Plums' Sea Shell Trevor. This cute little guy reminds me so much of my younger son. I must apologize, like many of my photos, the colours of the paper as well as the stamped images appear washed-out. I've attempted to adjust the photos with the software I have, but they haven't improved much. Maybe it's time for a photography course?
Cards Details:
  • stamps-image is C.C. Designs' Sugar Plums' Sea Shell Trevor, sentiment is Amy R. Stamps' Beach Sentiments (manufactured by C.C. Designs)

Trevor was stamped with StazOn Jet Black and coloured with Reeves Watercolour Pencils. The shells and his hair were accented with Judy Kin's Diamond Glaze. The sentiment was stamped with VersaMagic's Dew Drop Jumbo Java Chalk Ink.

  • patterned design paper is BellaBella "French Flea Market" A Bit O' Dots Paper by Carina Gardner(My Mind's Eye)
  • embossing-Cuttlebug's Divine Swirl
  • flower-Petaloo's Dahlia Box Blend Large

  • eyelets-We R Memory Keepers

I'm uncertain how much posting I'll get done this weekend so, just in case, have a fantastic Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

Good Wednesday Evening!
I've spent quite a bit of time today working with my latest acquisitions. Phebe, owner of The Town Scrapper, provided me with a new High Hopes stamp and Nicholson's Peerless Transparent Water Colors. I love to use watercolours to colour-in my stamped images, as does Phebe. She is thinking of carrying Nicholson's Peerless Transparent Water Color Sheets in her store, but wanted to try them out prior to doing so. Phebe has given me the opportunity to give them a shot too! I have, therefore been a busy little painter today(in between making meals, playing outside, building Tinkertoy creations and breaking-up a few brotherly disagreements:o).
It is going to take me a little while to get accustomed to the watercolour sheets. I've been using watercolour pencils since I began card-making and feel, at this point, I have more control with them. I do find however, using the sheets far more like traditional watercolour painting, as I have done some watercolour painting in the past. I love the look achieved with the sheets, it creates a "true" watercolour appearance, in my opinion.
Now, to today's card...It's focal image is a High Hopes stamp. High Hopes Rubber Stamps is a great local stamp company. Is Catrina imagining herself as a contestant on American Idol or Britain's Got Talent?
Card Details:
  • stamps-Catrina and sentiment are High Hopes

Catrina was stamped with StazOn Jet Black and coloured with Nicholson's Peerless Transparent Water Color. Diamond Stickles was used on her microphone to add a little shimmer. The sentiment was stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black.

  • cardstock die cuts-Spellbinders' Nesties Classic Ovals Small

Good Morning!
It is an absolutely beautiful morning. The boys and I will head outside for a bit after lunch. I wanted to post this card this morning. It features the Whiff of Joy stamp of which I spoke in my previous post. I tried to finish it last night, but struggled with the card layout. I still think the layout needs a little work, but none the less, here it is...
Card Details:
  • stamps-main image is Whiff of Joy's Melinda with Bouquet(Guardian Angel Collection), sentiment is Whiff of Joy(fairy-themed set)

Melinda was stamped with StazOn Jet Black and coloured with Reeves Watercolour Pencils. The watercolour paper I use is Fabriano, cold pressed, 140 lbs paper. Her polka dots were accented with Judy Kin's Diamond Glaze. I added a little sparkle to Melinda's wings using Diamond Stickles. The sentiment was stamped with VersaMagic's Dew Drop Chalk Ink in Jumbo Java.

  • patterned and solid design paper-BellaBella by Carina Gardner "French Flea Market" line(My Mind's Eye)
  • die cuts-Spellbinder's Nestabilities Labels Four
  • ribbon-Offray Simply Sheer Medium Brown
  • brads-Glitter Brads(We R Memory Keepers)

Hi All!

Hope your weekend has been a good one. Here, in Canada, it is a long weekend. We have Monday, Victoria Day, off. The weather for this long weekend in May is notoriously icky, but we've been rather fortunate this year, it's just a bit lower than the seasonal average...not much rain!
Today's card features a second stamp from C.C. Designs' Bugga-Boos. As you've seen, it is the cute little ladybug.
Card Details:
  • stamps-ladybug is C.C. Designs' Bugga-Boos, sentiment is C.C. Designs' Cookie Crumbs line Ladybug Friends set and stitching is Stitched Borders by Sassafrass Lass

I stamped the ladybug in StazOn Jet Black and coloured her with Reeves watercolour pencils. Her back and antennae were glossified (no, I don't think that's a word, but it just seems like the perfect verb in this case) with Judy Kin's Diamond Glaze. Ladybug's spots were coloured black and I added Diamond Stickles to give them a little sparkle. I think I will have to pick up a few more Stickles colours, black Stickles would have looked better on the spots. The sentiment and stitching were stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black.

  • patterned paper-lush lines by Penelope's Potpourri
  • cardstock die cuts-Spellbinders' Nestabilities' Labels Four (a new purchase!)
  • photo anchors and brads-Making Memories
  • ribbon-Bobbin Ribbon
  • buttons-oops, threw out the packaging

I must confess I cased the idea of placing ribbon around the ladybug's pigtails. I believe I saw it on the C.C Designs' Blog. The card was too cute and the ribbon idea adorable.

I am going to attempt to make a card with my new Whiff of Joy's Melinda for tomorrow's post. I've got her coloured, she is beautiful! Melinda's designer, Elisabeth Bell is so incredibly talented!!

C.C. Designs Stamps, StazOn ink, Stickles and Spellbinders from Phebe, The Town Scrapper.

Until the next one...
